How do we get saved?

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" John3:16

Jesus is the only way, everyone. Very Happy

Maybe the more appropriate question is what does it mean to be saved?

That is a good one.

If we are saved we strive to be Christlike, peace loving people. Saved means admitting we are all sinners and need forgiveness of God, and repent of our ways of living and mentality to Jesus' way.

Christianity is progressive and we also have to work at it until we die to be Christ like.

If we accept Jesus as Lord and savior, we get saved from sins we have committed. But we have to stay faithful to Him until the end if we want to inherit eternal life.

Who is "we?" Jesus died for the sins of the world, didn't he? Are there some who are saved because they believe and some who don't? And again, saved for what or from what? What does it mean to be saved from sins? You better get to that convention.

God is aboslutely Holy, He will not let anyone enter into His kingdom who are sinners.

Saved from sins to inherit the kingdom. If you don't want afterlife, you don't have to accept Jesus' offering. It's so simple. Why the repetitious questions?

Because the question has not been addressed. What does it mean to "inherit the Kingdom?"

What is the Kingdom?

Allowed to live with God forever after this world. All christians know that.

How did I miss that? Instead of asking over and over why don't you just tell us what I am missing to address?

Most people who claim they are Christians say they are going to heaven.

Was that God's Plan?

People need to come to their own conclusions. That's why Jesus taught in parables.

And particularly about the Kingdom.

Then how do you evangelize if you don't know what to answer to non-believers?

Jesus tells us to make decsiples of all nations.

Come on Freyd. We cannot ask questions to non-bleivers to their questions.

We ought to know how to answer to their questions, or we cannot evangelize.

I rather think that Jesus taught in parables so that he wouldn't get killed too quickly. Well, that and most people would rather listen to stories than sermons.

Freyd, your first questions were good, but I really think you need to give some direction when asking your questions, if you're to be of any help at all. I myself have sometimes guided someone to a conclusion with questions, but I usually know what the answer is in advance.

I'm going to back this thread up a little bit - while I believe that apostasy is possible, I don't think that we need to "work at" our salvation. Jesus did it, not us! If we deny him outright, we can probably escape into hell Wink - but if not, Jesus isn't going to give us a gift and then take it back later because we don't deserve it!

I do know the answers, but I'd rather not be dogmatic. But it helps to know what we're talking about by understanding terms and to whom they apply.

Ok, some new thoughts on the subject! How Do We Get Saved?

Romans 6;23 gives a clue, "For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

1 Cor. 15;21,22 goes a bit further, "For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive."

This I believe is a basis, YHWH provided the way, JN 14;6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

Put in a simple way, we must put faith in what the Father has provided, the ransom of His dear Son Jesus Christ. After putting faith in Jesus, we must then bring our life into harmony with His will & purpose for mankind.

This takes much time & effort on our part(not that we can earn that which is a free gift), but this proves to the Father our willingness to serve Him wholesouled for eternity.

During this time we will be putting on the fruits of God's Spirit(Gal.5;22,23)
We also need the complete of armour from God(Gal.6;10-1Cool.

These two last points will help us to combat the adversary, Satan, his demons & his earthly agencies.

Does any one have some thoughts to add? This has only started what is a very important aspect of coming into a relationship with YHWH & His Son, with a view to being saved.

WCL

Thank you Ion,

I am simple and I reason everything simply. I strive to be faithful to all of Jesus' teachings to combat satan's schemes.

Hitomi,

I always like to keep things as simple as possible. Even though Jesus spoke by parables, these can be easily understood when we go to the scriptures through prayer & with a heart that is seeking to please our Creator.

The wise & intelectual will often miss the point completely, we need to cultivate the "mind of Christ" & this will allow the H.S. to flow in our lives.
