Genesis 31:24 (King James Version)
24And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
Why did God say this to Laban? _________________ YHWH is my God and Jesus is my Lord |

The expression appears also in Gen.24:50. This tells us it was a familiar local expression where someone blesses or curses an event. In this case the daughters of Laban are involved and a normal type wedding feast and family goods do not exchange hands, in fact things are stolen and they run off in the night.
There seems to be some game going on here also. Laban isn't the greatest father or employer in the world and Jacob isn't above being tricky. Both men are kind of sneaky when it serves them. Sounds like people today doesn't it.
The bigger story is that God promised Abraham that all nations would be blessed through him so when Jacob takes these Aram wives he is fulfilling part of the promise.
