Why does he say do not damage the oil and the wine?
It could refer to events related to drought conditions and famine which follows. Olive tree orchards and Vineyards may have to survive on their own until the drought and famine are over. The trees and plants may have a deep enough root system to survive.
The ration of wheat and barely portions are just enough for a human to survive on.
If these items are looked at as spiritual symbols for Christians then a Believer who is deeply rooted in the Faith and grounded in the Word of God will survive hard times in this world, even persecution.
