fig tree was symbol of traditional (from very ancient times) form of initiation that was to be abolished after the Cross event. Here is that initiation refered to : 47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” 48Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.”
For a gnostic/hermetic type it is said a lot here.
for example, John's Baptism, a person held under water until beginning of NDE and then was pulled out of the water,
it was done with a hope that a person would have a chance to be out of physical body for several seconds, long enough
to "visit" spiritual realm, during traditional initiation a person was buried alive, wrapped tight, e.t.c. for 3+ days during which
he (etheric and astral bodies) would be in Spiritual realm (also refered by JC as sign of Jonah). That type of initiation was to be
abolished and one of the reasons you can see in Lazarus example, who died during initiation procedure. (Btw, a person
presiding over initiation called the one who was initiated "beloved", fwiw). Jesus symbolically cursed "the fig tree"= 3 day journey.
The way one sees the Kongdom is different. Here Paul refers to it: "14But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil." "mature" is not correct translation , it is "initiated".
here JC explains the "practice" complete with mantra.
. 6“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
7“And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8“So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
9“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11‘Give us this day our daily bread.
12‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’]
14“For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15“But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
As you can see now, this is a meditation technic described here. A meditation that eventually, sometimes after years of practice, will allow you
to see the KIngdom of God at will. And now we are back to the infants. Basically meditation can be successfull only when one can bring
one's mind into infant state and nothing of physical real interferes. So much for the secret...
Nothing's new under the Sun.
"Fig tree" was replaced with certain meditating technic in initiating process, _________________ YHWH is my God and Jesus is my Lord |
