Hebrews 12:28-29 (New International Version)

28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29for our "God is a consuming fire."[a]

Why is does it say that?

It says that, because the things "shaken" will also be consumed up and burned as if with fire. This means they'll totally be destroyed... everlasting destruction.

For although YHWH is a merciful God,.. to those who oppose him he becomes a consuming fire... because he destroys these ones.

Yet, what does it say will NOT be shaken? Heavenly Jerusalem... the kingdom. That is why the scripture mentions that we should not beg off from the one speaking, lest we fear being "shaken" and being everlastingly destroyed. For the things shaken, namely those things which are in contrast to "heavenly Jerusalem"... those things which are earthly and counterfeit (earthly organizations) will indeed be shaken, and burned up. So also will be those who are apart of them at the time of the end.

You're welcome Joyful. Smile

This scripture should make us want to approach the heavenly arrangement all the more so... because it will NOT be shaken, while every earthly counterfeit will be. If we're apart of the heavenly arrangement, then we have no fear at all, do we? Because then we're exercising faith in Jesus Christ for our salvation... and we have him as our leader. Therefore we will not be misled by man in order to follow them... because we'll have Jesus as our leader, and heavenly Jerusalem as our heavenly organization.

This is a comforting thing for sure.

Hi joyful,

I will definitely try to help as much I can... but I do not have the answers for everything. Yet, even having all of the answers wouldn't amount to much if it wasn't applied in the right way. For it is faith in Jesus Christ that we must have... because coming to him means life for us. Although knowledge is nice to have... it won't count for much if we are not faithful.

Therefore, I do not know how many answers I'll be able to give... as i'm just a man, and do not have all the answers. Yet, if I can, I will try to build up your faith in Christ Jesus... for he is the "truth" concerning YHWH. (John 14:6) And once you have him, and are in union with him and his Father, then you won't need any answers from me. For the scriptures state that he himself "teaches" all those who belong to him.

Jesus says if we love Him we will keep His commandments. In order to love Him we should know Him as much as we can. Being faithful requires many things involved. Faith without deed is dead.

That's why that the Bible says do not forsake gathering together so we can carry each other's burdens. Jesus uses all of us to help us. I know that Jesus used Charles Russell to expand our knowledge too. Lets not be too legalistic about man's Bible knowledge. I don't follow everything what he has to offer but if it is reasonable it is perfectly ok to use him.

As long as our heart is in the right place, we will not follow man because the Holy Spirit give us discernment what is right thing to do.

I tried to join BS because I thought I could use his knowledge of prophesy, but their organization is following elitism. That's why I pulled myself out. It is arrogant attitude and wicked as Jesus' servants. They have the same kind of spirit as JWs. It did not take too long to find out about them. The Bible says to test the spirit.

You're absolutely right. When it comes down to it... nothing is more important than love. We can have all the knowledge in the world... but it will account for very little if we do not have love. This is why Jesus also said that those who are his people will have love for each other. Yet, not only for themselves... but for others as well... including their enemies. Love has to be the our chief motivating factor... both in our actions towards God and Christ.... but also towards our brothers, neighbors, and even our enemies. Smile
